and, all the more so, the temptation of taking advantage of local workers, at lower remuneration and, at worst, doing their jobs in poor conditions. Although in Italy export of tourism initiatives has been intense and has entailed high investments and the establishment by various companies of operations in many places renowned for their attractions, there has been no study on the treatment of foreign workers, in States with weak social protection systems. The general nature of the Directive puts a topic that, quite wrongly, is but little considered on center stage. IV. THE OBJECTIVES OF THE EUROPEAN UNION DIRECTIVE Directive 2024 / 1760 / EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 June 2024 uses the setting of the German and French legislation and tries to integrate it in an organic framework, as it aims at transforming the parent company, based in the European Union, into the promoter of forms of control not only of subsidiaries, but also of suppliers, in order for workers’ rights and the rights to environmental protection to be realized. This combination of different values can be a matter for discussion, as, amongst supraindividual interests, they are certainly not the only ones under threat or needing enhanced protection. In the self - reform of today’s capitalistic system, the goal is to improve the forms of protection and have any disputes referred to the courts of the European Union Countries, thus creating a more promising regulatory space for those enterprises that have high potential and significant transnational impact, ensuing that the initiatives of workers from States providing lower social protection and of anyone suffering damage due to environmental conditions are foreseeable, along with reference to the more general concept of “human rights” (Article 1(1)(c). It is no chance that, consistently with quite usual rationales in the European Union law, in order to promote the safeguard of supraindividual interests, Article 3(1)(n) expands on the concept of stakeholders, in connection with labour law and environmental law topics, with the stated consideration of collective subjects, starting from trade unions and organizations engaged in defending the climate and nature. The two aspects are brought together in the Directive text as a whole, with evident relevance for tourism companies, which, on the one hand, hire people in Countries with modest capitalistic tradition and, on the other hand, search for areas featuring great landscapes. 76
