TOURISM AND CLIMATE CHANGE IN ISLAND COUNTRIES Tourist housing: Use traditional know-how for the construction of tourist accommodation capable of withstanding the increased risks due to climate change. 2nd practical recommendation: Transportation: Use maritime and road transport with means using zero-emission energy sources for both goods and tourists (sustainable mobility). The notion of eco-mobility often associated with the urban environment can also take hold in other areas such as the rural environment. The term includes a production system which, from its design to its implementation and up to the management of modes of transport, is cleaner with regard to the environment. For maritime transport, one can imagine boats that are powered by natural propulsion, namely the wind, and solar propulsion, which would allow these boats to be operational and not emit any greenhouse gas emissions. 3rd practical recommendation: Protection of the natural environment: Set up mangrove and coral protection programs in all coastal regions in order to make the development of tourism compatible with environmental protection in the face of climate risks. Reflect on the establishment of a label or a brand specific to these coastal regions both in countries with an arid climate and in island countries. 4th practical recommendation: Culture and Heritage and creative tourism: Use knowledge and traditional knowledge for the enhancement of creative tourism incorporating preservation measures in the face of climate risks. Prioritize the use of local guides during visits who could recall the principles of preservation of the places visited and raise awareness of the vulnerable nature of destinations with arid and island climates. 5th practical recommendation: Layout: Revise all island tourism development plans and schemes in order to integrate climate risk prevention measures with specific references to energy, water and the development of coastal areas and by taking provisions.
