The tourism industry is one of many whose productive factors are at the epicenter of climate change, both potentially aggravating its effects and suffering from its consequences. As a result, the issue of sustainability and tourism has become central. At the same time, Belém in the state of Pará, an Amazon region of great tourist attraction, will host the 30th Conference of the Parties, which further emphasizes the synergy between the tourism sector and the governance, sustainability and environment agendas. With this in mind, this article will discuss the role of the World Tourism Organization in this regard, as well as the World Code of Ethics for Tourism, which, although soft, has involved the efforts of a number of players in raising awareness and developing sustainable policies for the sector. The importance of the organization in the normative and institutional framework on the subject will be verified, as well as the relevance of the tourism code together with sustainability principles in conducting good practices in this sphere. The methodology employed is descriptive legal research using secondary data. Keywords: Soft law, ESG principles, international tourism.
