V. The acts, agreements, or contracts that in any way confer, modify, transfer, encumber, or extinguish property rights; VI. The agreements or contracts relating to related rights; VII. The powers granted to manage before the Institute, when the representation conferred covers all matters that the principal must process before it; VIII. The mandates granted by the members of the collective management societies in their favor; IX. The interpretation or performance agreements or contracts entered into by the performing artists; and X. The graphic and distinctive characteristics of works. The Public Copyright Registry may deny registration of: a) Anything not protected under Article 14 of the Law; b) Works in the public domain; c) Anything already registered in the Registry; d) Trademarks, unless it is also an artistic work and the person claiming to be the copyright holder is also the copyright holder; e) Advertising campaigns and promotions; f) The registration of any document with a marginal annotation that suspends the effects of the registration, resulting from the notification of a copyright lawsuit or the initiation of a preliminary investigation; and g) In general, acts and documents that, in their form or content, contravene or are unrelated to the provisions of the Law. It is argued, given the above, that “culinary creations cannot access the protection offered by intellectual property, unless directly, to the extent that they are complex works composed of representative and sensitive elements, which have only been able to be protected through literary works, or visually in photographic media, without the aforementioned protection extending to their content itself, or their smell or taste.” 14 Therefore, in practice, the recipe is accompanied by a story of how it came about, or a story of how, when, and by whom it was adapted for its 14 López Tarango, R., Ávila Martínez, J.
