in relation to Italian catering abroad (art. 34) and for the promotion of Italian cuisine abroad (art. 35). In relation to the latter, the establishment of a fund for the promotion of consumption abroad of quality national products, functional to the correct preparation of typical Italian dishes, and for their valorization, as well as for the training of personnel, including through cultural exchanges, on the correct preparation of dishes and the use of products, is foreseen. The establishment of the distinctive certification of “Italian restaurant in the world” is also foreseen, attributed, upon request, to restaurateurs operating abroad in order to valorize and support catering establishments operating abroad with a food and wine offering effectively conforming to the best Italian traditions and to counteract the speculative use of the “Italian sounding” practice, both in the preparation of dishes and in the use of ingredients and products. V. FOOD AND CONTRACTS Finally, the provision of services related to food is taking on typical forms, which demonstrate the expansion of the sector and its importance. It is a sign of changing social customs. People cook (and eat) less and less at home. External services are increasingly used to organize parties or celebrate anniversaries. And so, catering services (in their various forms) and restaurant contracts are now distinguished from classic restaurant contracts. VI. CONTRACTS FOR THE PROVISION OF FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICES By contracts for the provision of food and beverage services, one refers to those agreements aimed at offering the consumer complex services involving the supply of meals and drinks. A part of legal scholarship classifies them within the category of leisure contracts, although in practice they are widely used in sectors that bear little or no connection to the notion of leisure or rest, such as institutions, schools, hospitals, and businesses6. Even in their undeniable touristic function, due to the difficulty in demarcating the economic, and consequently legal, boundaries of this sector, Rivista di diritto industriale, 2024, I, pag. 26. 6 Includes catering contracts among leisure contracts G.
